Now that I’ve got your attention…
My name is Alyssa. My day job is as a dietitian in central Minnesota. I spend my spare time designing, creating and organizing life.
I live by the mantra: Create the things you wish existed.
From creating my own doll house furniture out of construction paper as a child to designing my own kitchen as a 20 something, I have always had a creative side and am a naturally curious person. Nothing motivates me more than when something isn’t working the way it should. I think I ask myself multiple times per day, “how can I make this better?” or “I wish there was something that would…” Then I set out to fix it or create a new process or item to let me work more efficiently or enjoy life more. I love learning new things whether it’s a new design program, how to use a new tool or in this case, how to create and manage a website.
As a dietitian, I get to help people live a healthier life, but I don’t always get to use my creativity, so when I am not at work, you can often find me planning my next project or finding a way organize our life. I have this constant drive to make things (spaces, people, objects) better than when I encountered them. Give me a old desk, you can bet I am thinking about how to update it or increase the functionality. Introduce me to a person, my goal is to give them some of my light and leave their day better than it was before.
As an introvert sharing my life with you is going to be a whole new adventure. Blogging is something I have been wanting to do for some time, but always talk myself out of it because I feel like I have a pretty un-eventful life and therefore don’t have anything worth sharing. It wasn’t until a dear friend of mine said, “why don’t you have a blog?” after I shared some before and after pictures of our kitchen remodel (most of which we did by ourselves or I designed). That was about 3 years ago, and the time is finally here. As a fellow introvert once told me to do, time to get my extrovert pants on and get out there!
Enjoy!
